SWEET CHOCOLATE IN VIENNA 2025

Calling all fellow #chocoholics #sweetaddicts and #travelholics!

Vienna tastes so sweet – did you know?

As a self-proclaimed sweet addict, Vienna has been on my list of cities to visit for a few specific reasons: the Viennese culture is known for their cakes and coffee! If you know me, I have never been known to turn down a slice of cake with a side of coffee…and I have a feeling you haven’t either!

Join me on a sweet royal journey through Vienna, where we will spoil ourselves with sweet Viennese treats and chocolates, enjoy a Mozart concert, satisfy our #booklove addiction with beautiful libraries, stumble upon some amazing chocolate markets (yes, you read that right…we’re going on a chocolate hunt) and did I mention we’re in the home of the famous Vienna cakes?

Champagne, Chocolate, Vienna Cakes, Palaces ...

From exploring stunning baroque architecture, starting at your hotel and extending to the opulent Schönbrunn Palace and the picturesque Wachau Valley, every moment promises to be filled with wonder.

Experience a touch of luxury as you sip champagne on a private tour of the Swarovski flagship store. This tour is the perfect blend of culture, sweet tooth, and unforgettable experiences.

Itinerary

Hello Vienna and your sweet desserts!

I can’t wait to explore Vienna together! Vienna has always been on my ‘travel wishlist’ – for the music, the coffee and desserts and for…well, let’s face it…I’m really excited for the coffee and cakes Vienna is known for!

NOTE: Please note when booking your flights that most flights from Canada/US will need to depart the day before our tour begins in order to arrive in time. For example, if you are joining us on Saturday, April 12 – your flight will need to leave your location (if flying from Canada or the USA) April 11th (or sooner if you want to spend some extra days).

Day 1 – Saturday, April 12: Welcome to Vienna!
Included: meet and greet cocktail, dinner

Once you have arrived, a private transfer will wait for you at the airport and bring you to the Leo Grand 5-star boutique hotel ideally located in the heart of Vienna. I will be awaiting for you at the hotel with a sweet little gift. We will have a ‘meet & greet cocktail’ at 6 pm followed by dinner in the hotel’s exquisite dining room.

Day 2 – Sunday, April 13:  Royalty and traditions
Included: breakfast at hotel, tours, lunch, dinner

Our morning will begin with a Palace tour where we will learn about the captivating life of Empress Elisabeth “Sissi” of Austria with a tour of her private quarters. The Empress was a skilled horsewoman who trained at the 450-year-old riding school. This is where we will be treated to a thrilling display of equestrian skill at the Spanish Horse Show, a centuries-old tradition of horsemanship where Lipizzaner stallions display the highest standard of classical dressage.

Lunch will be at @Oberlaa followed by an afternoon stroll through the festive Easter market stalls laden with an array of artisanal crafts and local delicacies. We’ll end this perfect first day in Vienna with with a memorable dinner at Café Central, a historic Viennese café that has been a cultural hub for artists, intellectuals, and locals for centuries.

Day 3 – Monday, April 14: Sweet delights and classical music
Included: breakfast at hotel, food tour, bus tickets, evening musical experience

Our day begins with a sweet food tour led by a Viennese guide, where our sweet cravings will be in heaven as we sample a variety of delicious local desserts and uncover the city’s culinary delights followed by lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, I’m so excited that we’ll be able to visit State Hall, the renowned historical reading room considered one of the most beautiful in the world, at the Austrian National Library (my bookloving heart will be overflowing!). The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure – but first we will hop on the Vienna hop-on-hop-off bus to discover the city at our own pace. The rest of the day is up to you – but my suggestions would be to visit all the amazing cafes to nibble on the famous Vienna cakes, then do some serious shopping or even see more of the sites… (of if you’ve had enough walking, you could have a spa day). Dinner will be at leisure (on our own).

Our evening is going to be magical! Listening to a live orchestra in Vienna has always been a dream, and I’m so excited that tonight, we will have listen to the Vienna Mozart Orchestra in a breathtaking setting where we will be immersed in Vienna’s rich musical history and the enchantment of live music at the Golden Hall.

Day 4 – Tuesday, April 15: Sisi Palace and Easter Markets
Included: breakfast at hotel, guided tour and entrance fees, carriage ride, dinner

Are you ready for more opulent beauty and palaces? We will spend the morning at Schönbrunn Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning baroque architecture and rich history. The palace was the summer home of Emperor Franz Joseph and Sisi. The guided tour of the palace continues by a leisurely carriage ride through the meticulously landscaped gardens and soaking in the beauty of lush greenery.

We will spend the afternoon at one of the best Easter Markets in the city – it’s in front of Schönbrunn Palace, where Imperial children hunted for eggs. Lunch is at leisure as we explore the market (75 exhibitors offer all kinds of culinary delights) and enjoy all the Easter decorations and handicrafts. Next, we will delve into the world of art at the Belvedere Museum, home to an impressive collection of artworks, especially Gustav Klimt’s iconic masterpiece, “The Kiss.”

Dinner will be at the iconic @Figlmüller where we will try out their renowned Schnitzel (if you haven’t checked out their instagram page, you should!).

Day 5 – Wednesday, April 16: Wachau Valley
Included: breakfast at hotel, tours & transportation, wine tasting, lunch, dinner

Join me on a day tour to the enchanting Austria’s Wachau Valley, a picturesque region. Perched majestically above the Danube River, Melk Abbey, spiritual legacy of this UNESCO World Heritage site, is a magnificent Benedictine monastery in Austria renowned for its stunning baroque architecture, ornate frescoes, and impressive library (as booklovers, how could we not visit another library?!).

After visiting the Abbey, we will have enjoy a wine tasting featuring a selection of exquisite wines from the renowned Wachau Valley, one of Austria’s most esteemed wine regions. This tasting will take place in a remarkable cellar, followed by lunch at Schloss restaurant contemplating a stunning view overlooking the Danube River.

After lunch, we will have time off to immerse ourselves in the charming village of Durnstein, known for its colorful houses, cobblestone streets and the iconic blue tower. Before we head back to Vienna, we will visit a family-owned saffron factory, where we will delve into the fascinating world of precious saffron and taste the luxurious saffron chocolate (melt my chocoholic heart!)

Dinner will be @Cafe Diglas, back in Vienna.

Day 6 – Thursday, April 17: Swarovski & chocolate workshop
